DNS Management

What is DNS Management?

DNS (Domain Name System) translates domain names (yourdomain.com) into IP addresses (192.168.1.1). Our DNS Management service gives you full control over your DNS zones โ€” add, edit, and delete DNS records in real-time through a visual editor or API.

Our DNS network uses anycast routing across 18+ global points of presence, ensuring DNS queries are answered by the nearest server โ€” delivering sub-10ms DNS resolution worldwide. Changes propagate to all nodes within seconds, not hours.

Every domain registered or transferred to our platform includes free DNS management. You can also use our DNS for domains registered elsewhere by updating the nameservers. Supported record types: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV, CAA, NS, and PTR (reverse DNS).

Key Features

Everything included with DNS Management, ready to use from day one.

Anycast DNS Network

18+ global anycast PoPs ensure DNS queries are answered by the nearest server โ€” sub-10ms resolution worldwide.

Real-Time Propagation

DNS changes propagate to all nodes within seconds. No waiting hours for changes to take effect.

Visual DNS Editor

Add, edit, and delete DNS records through a visual editor. No need to edit zone files manually โ€” just fill in the form.

All Record Types

A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV, CAA, NS, and PTR records. Full support for SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for email authentication.

DNS API

Full REST API for programmatic DNS management. Automate DNS updates from your CI/CD pipeline or infrastructure-as-code.

DNS Templates

Save DNS configurations as templates and apply them to new domains in one click. Perfect for standard configurations.

TTL Control

Set custom TTL (Time To Live) values per record. Low TTL for records that change frequently; high TTL for stability.

Reverse DNS (PTR)

Set PTR records for your IP addresses. Essential for email deliverability โ€” many spam filters reject email without valid PTR records.

Use Cases & Examples

Real-world scenarios where DNS Management delivers value.

1

Website & Email Setup

Point your domain to your web server (A record), set up email (MX records), and configure email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) โ€” all from the DNS editor.

Example: A business sets up A record โ†’ web server IP, MX records โ†’ email provider, TXT record โ†’ SPF for email authentication, and CNAME โ†’ www subdomain โ€” all in 5 minutes via the visual editor.

2

Subdomain Management

Create subdomains (blog.yourdomain.com, api.yourdomain.com, shop.yourdomain.com) pointing to different servers or services.

Example: A SaaS company creates api.yourdomain.com โ†’ API server, app.yourdomain.com โ†’ web app, docs.yourdomain.com โ†’ documentation site โ€” each pointing to a different server.

3

Automated DNS via API

Automate DNS updates from your CI/CD pipeline. When a new server is deployed, update the DNS via API โ€” no manual intervention.

Example: A DevOps team uses Terraform with the DNS API: when a new server is provisioned, Terraform automatically creates the A record pointing to the new server's IP.

DNS records are stored in the DnsRecord entity. The domainManager function handles DNS zone management โ€” adding, updating, and deleting records via the registrar's DNS API, with changes propagated to the anycast network within seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use your DNS for domains registered elsewhere?

Yes. Update the nameservers at your current registrar to point to our DNS servers. DNS management is free regardless of where the domain is registered.

How fast do DNS changes propagate?

Changes propagate to all 18+ anycast PoPs within seconds. Global recursive resolvers may take up to the TTL duration to pick up changes.

What is DNSSEC and should I enable it?

DNSSEC adds cryptographic signatures to DNS records, preventing DNS spoofing attacks. We recommend enabling it for security-sensitive domains. It's a one-click toggle.

Is there a limit on DNS records?

No. You can create unlimited DNS records across unlimited zones. Each zone supports all record types with custom TTLs.
